James W. Clarke, MDDr. Clarke is a Utah native, born and raised in Utah County. He completed his undergraduate studies with a B.S. in zoology from Brigham Young University in 2000. Afterwards, he and his family moved to Columbus, Ohio where he completed 9 years of medical training. He graduated from The Ohio State University College of Medicine in 2004. During his time there he developed a special interest in cancer medicine through clinical experiences, and through a laboratory research fellowship in cancer genetics that he was awarded. Following medical school, he completed a one-year internal medicine internship at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus. He went on to complete his residency in Radiation Oncology at the Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital at Ohio State. The James Cancer Hospital is one of only 40 National Cancer Institute designated Comprehensive Cancer Centers in the U.S., and is recognized as one of the top 20 cancer hospitals in the country by U.S. News & World Report. At Ohio State he gained valuable experience in a wide range of cutting edge radiation therapy technologies, including image guided-intensity modulated radiation therapy, stereotactic radiosurgery, and high dose rate brachytherapy. Dr. Clarke has been extensively involved with cancer research in the clinic and in the laboratory and has authored numerous scientific publications in the field. In 2009 Dr. Clarke joined Gamma West and returned to his home state. He practices primarily in St. George and has been excited to contribute to the high level of care already available in Southern Utah. |
